Our adventure aboard the Norwegian Star will be a thrilling adventure through Iceland - the land of fire and ice! Discover the rugged beauty of Iceland during our 2-night pre-cruise stay at the 4-star Fosshótel Reykjavík in downtown Reykjavik - Iceland's colourful capital. Here, we will experience a professionally guided tour as we explore the world's most northerly capital. We will experience the Golden Circle Tour around the capital region highlighted by a visit to thunderous Gullfoss Falls and to the home of “The Great Geyser” hot spring!
As an optional excursion, before we embark on the NCL Star we will spend a relaxing morning at the Blue Lagoon Thermal Spa - a must for any visit to Iceland! We board the NCL Star in the afternoon for an epic voyage!
Situated in West Iceland on the Snæfellsnes peninsula, Grundarfjörður, our first port of call, is a small fishing village boasting big outdoor adventures. Perhaps enjoy Viking age re-enactments in a reconstructed Viking village that take place in the summer months.
Next, we sail to Akureyri! Nestled at the base of a stunning fjord and surrounded by snow-capped mountains, Akureyri is Iceland’s second-largest city and a true northern gem. Known for its vibrant arts scene, cozy cafés, and beautiful botanical gardens, this charming town blends small-town warmth with cultural richness. Despite its size, Akureyri offers plenty to explore—from whale watching in Eyjafjörður to soaking in nearby geothermal baths. It’s a perfect stop for nature lovers and curious travellers alike.
Next, we visit Ísafjörður in the country's northwestern corner. As the largest town in Iceland's remote Westfjords's region, Ísafjörður is a magnet for outdoor enthusiasts. Boasting an enchanting fjord ideal for watersports and a mountainous landscape brimming with opportunities for hiking, biking, horseback riding and more, there's something for everyone to enjoy. Originally a church site and a 16th century trading post, the town of Ísafjörður is home to wonderful museums and historic sites for those wishing to learn about the region's rich heritage and local culture.
As we sail through the breathtaking Westfjords of Iceland, we prepare for a truly unforgettable experience! This late afternoon, we will witness the 2026 total solar eclipse in the heart of one of Iceland’s most remote and majestic regions. Known for its towering cliffs, deep fjords, and unspoiled wilderness, the Westfjords provide the perfect setting for this rare celestial event. With minimal light pollution and vast, open skies, we will enjoy clear views of the eclipse, surrounded by the serene beauty of Iceland’s wild northwest.
Seydisfjordur is our next port of call. At the end of a long sheltered fjord, surrounded by steep dramatic mountains is where you'll find the remote, astoundingly picturesque valley of Seydisfjordur. Once the capital and a booming town thanks to an abundance of silver herring, Seydisfjordur is now known for its multi-coloured wooden buildings, iconic Blue Church and flourishing art scene. A sunken British oil tanker (El Grillo), a casualty of WWII, rests at the bottom of the fjord and is a popular dive site.
Denmark welcomes us next in Torshavn, Faroe Islands! This colourful capital city of the Faroe Islands on the island of Steymoy features a panoply of Nordic landscapes, with fjords, straits, deep green valleys, and a wonderful harbour dotted with colourful boats. Thorshavn began as a Viking settlement, and later became a thriving town, replete with quaint, colourful neighborhoods, and historic cathedrals and fortresses from the Middle Ages.
A well-deserved day at sea awaits next. Enjoy a relaxing day at sea and catch your breath while taking in the many wonderful amenities aboard the Norwegian Star.
On our last day, after what has been a thrilling sail through Iceland, we return to Reykjavik for disembarkation and make our way back home after such an unforgettable cruise tour! Don't miss your chance to join us for this incredible tour! Call 1-866-636-8080 now to reserve your cabin!
